Spirituality is a very important aspect of human civilization. Since the dawn of time, human beings have always turned to certain forms of higher power for guidance and enrichment. This kind of belief system has taken its shape in the form of organized religions, spiritual philosophies, moral codes, and personal relationships. To a vast majority of people in this world, spirituality is very important; and it must somehow find its way throughout various aspects in life. That’s why it is absolutely essential for these people to have spiritual relationships that actually promote their connections with the divine.
A lot of people will see their relationships as pools from which they can draw their spiritual strength. These men and women will use their relationships as tools to propel them into becoming the best possible versions of themselves; and it works a lot too. There are plenty of cases of people who have genuinely become better human beings because of the relationships that they are in. Now, it’s very important to note that every relationship carries with it very distinct qualities much like a snowflake would. The reason for this is due to the vast complexity and diversity of the human civilization. In a relationship, two very different people struggle to find a semblance of balance and stability despite their conflicting personalities. That’s where spirituality comes in; the merging of two bodies to take on one form.
So how do you know that your relationship is one that is spiritually strong? Well, here are a few signs that you could be on the lookout for.
1. You treat each setback as an opportunity for growth.
You understand that adversities and challenges are always natural aspects of life and relationships. That’s why it never fazes you whenever the tough times come because you are very confident in your capacities as a couple to overcome them. You treat your setbacks as opportunities for you to prove your worth as a couple; as opportunities for you to grow and develop as individuals and as two people who love each other.
2. You are more compassionate than you are judgmental.
Compassion is innate within the both of you. It’s not something that comes out inorganically. It’s not something that either of you have to force. When you are met with hostility or pressure, instead of casting judgment and hate, you respond with compassion and sensitivity. You try to take the higher ground as much as possible and you never fail at doing so.
3. You both understand the value of living in the moment.
You always take each moment with a healthy perspective. You know that you have to value each moment that you spend together and you never take it for granted. You are always looking to live in the moment. Yes, you have an eye for the future, and you have an appreciation for the past, but you always know that living in the present is what is most important. You can’t afford to let the present slip you by and that’s why you are always consciously paying attention.
4. You are very patient with one another.
You always practice maximum patience with each other because you both acknowledge one another’s humanity. Yes, you are both spiritual people who value spirituality in the relationship. But you also never fail to realize that you are both only human and that you will both have your flaws, shortcomings, and imperfections. You are very patient and understanding of one another during times of weakness. You never hold a grudge and you always know how to carry on.
5. Love is always your first response during times of adversity.
It can be difficult to muster up some love during difficult moments, but to you, it’s always the most natural thing in the world to do. Sometimes, the pressure can get to you as a couple, and you may end up on the edge of an implosion. During these high-pressure situations, you never forget to just take a step back and remember that you love each other very much. You always place love at the forefront of your relationship even when it’s difficult to do so.
6. You don’t set unreasonable expectations for one another.
In fact, you don’t really set any expectations or standards at all. You are both already very secure and confident in your love. You know that you are always going to be enough for one another and you don’t really feel the need to count the ways. You are always striving to make each other happy and feel loved and that’s all that should matter.
7. There is no room for ego in the relationship.
Pride is nonexistent in the relationship. You never let your egos get in the way. You say sorry whenever you screw up. You keep still and quiet whenever you have to. You don’t feel the need to always win everything. You both know when it’s necessary to just set your pride aside.
